 Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta has four (4) campus sites. The UNY main campus is Karangmalang Campus. There are seven (7) faculties, one (1) graduate program, laboratories, and workshops that supporting students learning process and various research activities.  Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta main campus is located very near with various tourism center and important facilities in Yogyakarta. Kampus Karangmalang is located about 3.5 km from Malioboro, 3.8 km from the Yogyakarta Governor Office, 4.2 km from Yogyakarta zero kilometer point. Within less than 1 kilometer from UNY, there are Universitas Gadjah Mada and Panti Rapih Hospital.

 UNY has used LED lights for lighting in classrooms, meeting rooms, and other rooms. Replacement from conventional lights to LED lights is done in stages for old buildings. For the new building that was completed in 2018, one of them was the PPS UNY Lecture Building, is directly installed with LED lights.
