Digitalizing and Greening TVET for Sustainable Development
Post date: Monday, November 21, 2022 - 16:51

Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) should be receptive to changes in innovation, working environment prerequisites, and ecological supportability issues. Policy changes, the creation of new qualifications, and the acquisition of new skills that meet the requirements of the digital economy and green economy are all necessary for the establishment of a sustainable system and the preparation of TVET for the digital transition. On October 27, 2022, the International Seminar "Digitalizing and Greening TVET for Sustainable Development" was held in Bangkok by the Regional Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training of Brunei Darussalam and the Office of the Vocational Education Commission of Thailand in response to this demand.

Utilizing plant-based pesticides to promote healthy food sources
Post date: Thursday, September 29, 2022 - 11:42

Pesticide is a broad term that encompasses all types of pesticides. Pest and cide / cida, which means pest killer, are the words that gave rise to the term pesticide. In a few examinations, customary substance based pesticides are frequently connected with ranchers' medical conditions and water contamination. Farmers can use plant-based pesticides instead of conventional pesticides to reduce this risk. Plant-based pesticides are effective at controlling pests and plant diseases because they contain active ingredients derived from plants and other organic materials. In addition, medicinal plants can be made from plants that have the potential to be used as pesticides. These plants have a strong smell, a bitter taste, and insect pests don't like them. A few plants can be utilized as... Read More ...

Tool for Automatically Monitoring a Turtle Nest
Post date: Saturday, August 20, 2022 - 14:21

Turtles are sea-dwelling reptiles. Turtles can cross the Indian Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and Southeast Asia on long migrations. The combination of natural factors and human activities that directly or indirectly put the population of turtles in danger puts them in a difficult situation. These creatures are sensitive to light, noise, cleanliness of the environment, and crowds, which frequently disturb turtles that are laying eggs. The decline in turtle populations as a result of human activities—threats from nature in the form of climate change, disease, or the threat of predatory animals—is caused by damage to coastal habitats, deaths as a result of interactions with fishing activities, inadequate management of conservation techniques, and uncontrolled hunting of turtles and their... Examples of Communication Systems from Nature
Post date: Monday, August 1, 2022 - 14:46

"For a communications engineer, nature is full of examples of communication systems. Many of these systems use molecules for signaling, control, and regulation. Molecular communication is a new field that applies communication engineering tools to molecular signaling. Potential applications in medicine include treating neurological disorders, preventing cancerous tumors' growth, and reducing the impact of other diseases arising from ineffective or inadvertent signaling. Other opportunities include advances in environmental monitoring and the design of lab-on-a-chip systems. I will introduce molecular communication and present examples of biophysical problems seen through the lens of communication," said Dr. Adam Noel of the University of Warwick at the 9th International Conference on... Healthy Snacking with Mocaf Pie
Post date: Monday, July 4, 2022 - 14:00

Cassava production in Indonesia is relatively abundant. Based on the FAO Statistical Database, Indonesia was the fifth world's biggest cassava producer in 2020, with a total output of 18.3 million tons. Five provinces in Indonesia that produce the most cassava are Lampung, Central Java, East Java, West Java, and Yogyakarta. The abundance of cassava production is why Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) supports the development of cassava-based processed foods to strengthen food security. This point has motivated Rifqi Alauddin, a UNY Culinary Diploma student, to make Mocaf Pie.

Modified Cassava Flour (Mocaf) is a “whole food” made from whole tubers without bleaching process. Mocaf flour is different from tapioca flour. Tapioca is a bleached starch extracted from cassava tubers.... Read More ...

Learning How to Make Stylish Ecoprint Scarf
Post date: Friday, July 1, 2022 - 14:32

Applying the ecoprint technique to fabrics can produce a pattern of distinctive shapes and colors according to the natural materials used. We can create patterns and textures very similar to the original with the proper methods. The colors that emerge from this coloring process are usually natural and soft. In the long term, the ecoprint technique is claimed to be more environmentally friendly when compared to conventional coloring techniques. This point is what prompted Rohmah Hasanatun Robbani, a student of fashion education at the Faculty of Engineering, UNY, to hold a training on making stylish print ecoprint scarves in Wijirejo village, Bantul Regency.

"I hope this training can increase the interest and talent of the villagers in utilizing the natural materials that are... Read More ...
